NSW: police investigate shooting death

A man's body has been found in a car park with a gunshot wound to the chest in Sydney's
south-west overnight.

Police are today investigating the shooting death of the man after they were called
to Austral about 6.25pm (AEDT) last night where they found the body.

The 51-year-old man was found in a car park near rural properties in Gurner Avenue.

The man had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

A crime scene was established while forensic officers carried out their investigations.

A rifle has been recovered and taken for further examination.

A post mortem is expected to be carried out on the man's body today at the Westmead Morgue.

Police are continuing investigations.
